Embla Naylor, Ceramics & Jewelry

As a ceramic artist, I use clay to express myself, making functional pieces that can be used to serve coffee, tea, and treats. I want to bring people together at the table to create shared memories. After forming each piece, I sculpt and glaze representations of natural elements inspired by time spent in the woods and around the ocean in Bellingham, Washington where I was born and spent much of my early childhood, as well as several years over the past decade. I also draw from desert themes in Phoenix, Arizona, where I moved later in childhood and where I now live.

I also spend a lot of time creating jewelry out of clay, metals, and will sometimes incorporate beads and glass in my designs. Again, the motive is about bringing people together which happens by creating unique pieces that often serve as conversation starters.
