Jan Cooper

Jan is a fiber artist based in Phoenix, AZ, and has her own home-based studio. Known for her innovative use of ribbon yarn in a wrapping technique, she makes pins/brooches and sculpture. Using multiple types of materials as a base, such as wood, ceramic, vinyl, even a well-loved used toy, Jan creates one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Her inspiration and subject matter is her love of the desert, and all its creatures and fauna. A self-taught artist, Jan blends her long history experimenting with different mediums, then incorporating these ideas into one-of-a-kind creations. She presently has her art consigned in local gift shops and gallery gift shops. Through her art, Jan seeks to challenge herself in the use of fiber in many ways, applying it to new and unusual found objects to create pieces that amaze and make someone smile.
